Mountain sickness

I think I'm suffering from mountain sickness - wanting to go climb a mountain again, that is. Of coz, it's the monsoon season and most of the treks in Peninsular Malaysia will be full of leeches. Thought of going to Belumut to juz enjoy the fresh air and scenery but nobody's keen to go. :(

I want to go on leave. I want to get out of Singapore. Sigh.

Back from Mount Kinabalu!

This trip turned out much better than I expected! I didn't dream about work nor worry all day long. I wasn't so tired or was down with cramps in the legs - think I took advice seriously - GO SLOW. I went slow, really really slow and we reached Laban Rata so early that we had time to unpack, shower, had dinner before sunset! Felt really good about that. :) Our guide is worth mentioning...lemme see what's his name - Jasirin Bin Lasim. Oh no!! He should be a muslim and fasting then!! Thought I was being kind when I offered him lots of chocolates - must share the goodies in such a place mah. Anyway, think I'm deteriorating. When we were nearing Low's Peak, I was walking really really slow cos' I was really tired and cold. Jasirin came and gave me a hand and guided me up the last stretch. When we were descending from the summit, he helped me down at certain places too. Do I look like I needed help? Hmm...not that I don't appreciate his help but in the past, I would be one of those helping others cross rivers and up/down slopes. Kim asked if I wanted to go Taman Negara next month. I think I should. Maybe I still haven't gotten used to high altitude trekking, I hope. If I needed help for Taman Negara, I need to go bury myself at the gym leow.

Juz snorkelling at Sabah was enough for me to absorb the underwater beauty of the place. Nonetheless, the place did not disappoint me. Even when snorkelling, I could see lots of diverse underwater species! It was amazing to see a school of razorfish, a cowfish and a pair of mantis shrimps even while snorkelling! That proves that diving would be even better! Can't wait to go back!

Sabah's really a nice place. With mountains to climb, oceans to dive, not to mention nice native folks - minus those urbanised city folks. I wonder if University of Sabah wants research assistants....hehe

Leg pain...

MD...after the jogging last weekend, I haven't jogged for a week cos' my knees are hurting. Bought a gym ball and wanted to do calisthenics instead. Justin and Jerral were quite intrigued by it and of coz...that brought trouble. Bro-in-law wouldn't let Justin play in the living room cos' Jerral wanted to play with it as well - and Justin wouldn't allow it. Then Justin started crying and dad got pissed cos' he thinks it's bro-in-law's fault. Duh...............the story goes.......... So I decided to bring it to the office as a chair. Dad gladly helped me to deflate and pack it so that there will be 1 less thing to make Justin cry. Duh!?!??!!?

Anyway, I'm counting down to the number of days to go before I have to scale Mt K again...argh!!! Worse, with the tons of work to clear, I'll be dreaming about work while climbing the d*mned mountain...if I get to sleep at all.

Changing personalities

Sometimes, I don't understand myself. Of late, I hate to be around with people - of all sorts. I work late and skip going to the canteen for meals so that I don't have to meet people. I get irritated easily too. Now, I'm wondering if I should buy a new bike so that I can escape the city on weekends and cheong to Kota Tinggi or Desaru. When I still had my bike, the story was the same. I'll take my bike out and ride to ECP - now I drive there instead. Maybe I should just get a new bike.

Jogging

Feeling rather restless today. Plucked myself out of bed and dragged myself off the chair and made my way to ECP. Jogging's really quite therapeutic sometimes - esp. when you're not running for timing or having to keep up or wait for someone else. The distance - 10km. Not bad record for myself...cos' I hate running. Next week. 12km. Hahaha... Wait. Next week will be 2km! Vertical!!! TMD!!!! $*(!)#@!()$&#@)*$@#)

Going away

My boss had finally relented and allowed me to go on leave. It didn't come as a pleasant surprise as I had long given up going away for a vacation for the rest of the year. Now, I'm mentally unprepared to go on leave. Or should I say - I'm mentally unprepared to scale Mt K once again. Urgh! I remembered that I had never felt so tired in my life - those runs in training school were peanuts in comparison. I'm leaving soon! Oh no! Alamak...feel like LS-ing when I think about it now.

Bleah... Think it may be the coffee I drank yesterday. Been LS-ing the whole morning. I'm going Mt K...I'm going Mt K.... OH NO!!!!! I'm going Mt K next weekend!!!!!! Fortunately I've been training for IPPT, else it'll be another agonising vacation.
